For hundreds of years, dentures were the only restorative option for patients of all ages that had lost teeth for whatever reason. While methods have certainly evolved and become more sophisticated over the years, many of our patients at Bloomfield Dental Center still prefer the reliability and affordability that dentures and partial dentures provide them with.
When choosing a tooth replacement option, Dr. Guerguis will be sure to sit down with you and discuss your choices in-depth. In cases like this, your opinion is very important to us, and we won’t move forward with any treatment until we know we’ve chosen the right solution for your unique needs. All we want is to help you regain a whole and healthy smile for good!
How do dentures and partial dentures work?
Full dentures are used to replace an entire top or bottom row of teeth, sometimes even both. They’re not one-size-fits-all by any means, though. We painstakingly create each set to fit each patient so as to ensure the most comfortable and natural fit. They stay in place with the help of natural suction and sometimes a little dental adhesive.
Partial dentures, on the other hand, are the ideal option for patients who want to retain the natural teeth they have left instead of having them extracted. They’re created as a sort of puzzle piece, fitting snugly into the gaps in your smile. They’re held in place with clips or brackets while still being completely removable, just like full dentures.
Although we recommend dental implants as the ideal tooth replacement option for many patients, there are several reasons why full and partial dentures may be a better choice. Dentures can be created much quicker than dental implants can, giving patients the complete look they want for their smile as quickly as possible. Some may also prefer the affordability of dentures, or are simply not viable candidates for dental implants. Others enjoy the fact that dentures and partial dentures are removable, making oral hygiene much simpler as well as allowing them to sleep more comfortably. Whichever option you prefer, our dental team will move forward with treatment without hesitation and provide the most thorough and comfortable restorative care around.
